The Bears were all up and down the creek, catching Salmon one after another. Most then ventured up to Salmon Glacier, one of the largest Glaciers in the Northern Hemisphere.  Then it's off to Dease Lake and then Watson Lake to visit the Sign Forest.

In Skagway we saw a Video on the Klondike Gold Rush then after a City Walking Tour. We carpooled on another town tour then we went up to the Chilcoot Trail to see where the Stampeders started their trek.  Most went up the trail to the Ranger Post and signed in as being on the trail. Plenty of history at that spot. We then went to the Historic Skagway Graveyard and on up to Reed Falls, which was really roaring.  Today is a shopping day then on up to Whitehorse, Yukon for more Klondike history and tours.  We went to the "Days of 98' show and have some funny photos of some of our group.

Yea!  We all found Gold!!!                               Then we all learned about Gold Dredges            Gold Dredge "Class of '05"

After our adventures in Whitehorse we were ready to try our luck in the hills of Dawson City.   Dawson City is known for its gold discovery and there are several places that adventurers like us can try our luck at panning.   Every one tried panning for gold and after realizing the work involved decided it was not their career of choice.  There is a lot involved in the panning process that begins with a shovel and a bucket and ends with a back ache.  However everyone has lots of fun and some even developed what we call gold fever.  That is when you think about gold 24/7 and even start wondering about or panning every creek in sight looking for shiny specks in the bottom of your pan.  Panning was not the only thing we accomplished in Dawson.  There is so much history that surrounds the town that we did not know where to start;  first off, there is Gold Dredge #4 where we learn how to find gold in style, next we visited the homes of Jack London and Robert Service, finally we visited the Commissioners Residence where Martha Black and her husband resided during the gold rush.  Dawson is neat, the town still looks like it did in 1898 granted there has been some slight remodeling but the sidewalks are made of wood and the streets of dirt.  It reminds me of an old western town.

After Dawson City we were off to Alaska, Dawson was our last adventure in the Yukon and Canada.  On our way out of Dawson we caught the small ferry across the Yukon River and we were off.

Dawson City, Yukon was a fun town with its wooden boardwalks and dirt streets and wild west attitude.  Tomorrow we head over the top of the world highway to Chicken, Alaska and on to Fairbanks for more fun.

The ending potluck was a smash hit with everyone participating with a poem or a skit.  Today is September 12th and the tour is over.  Every one is heading South except Airplane and Texas Larry who are working on the rig and should be on the road south by the 14th.  Everyone else is heading slowly South.  We don't want to run into Summer to quickly.  Every one is in great health and in high sprits, the weather is perfect and the leaves are changing to a golden yellow.

God Bless and stay in touch, Spike
